Red & Yellow Flags come down for another season
RED & YELLOW FLAGS - SEASON END
Thank you very much patrol teams 3 & 5 for completing our last rostered patrols on ANZAC Day yesterday. Thank you also to all members who organised and accepted shift swaps.
Weather and conditions were beautiful in the morning, but it got overcast, windy and chilly in the afternoon with only a few beach visitors and swimmers around throughout the day.
So that's a wrap ... the 2020-21 patrolling season done and dusted marking our 108th season of ' NO LIVES LOST ON BULLI BEACH' whilst our surf club members are on patrol. 108 yrs proud
Some interesting statistics for the season showed between 93 members rostered across 7 teams plus many additional volunteers a total of
- 3,972 Patrolling hours performed
- 94 Rescues
- 2,017 Preventative actions
- 63 First aid provisions
- 5 Emergency callouts
were performed between 27 September 2020 and 25 April 2021.
Thank you so much to everyone who put on the red & yellow uniform & patrolled Bulli Beach this season and who has helped to keep beach visitors safe. Your passion, dedication and professionalism are greatly appreciated and have been recognised....well done
Thank you also to SLSI Duty Officer Coordinator Jamie Caldwell for - again - towing our patrol equipment trailer including SLSI support ski 3 on and off the beach while our SSV is still at the workshop.
Lastly a shout out to the 20 members of the Emergency Callout Team, who continue to make themselves available for responses to emergency incidents during after hours & now make themselves available 24/7 during the off season leading back into surf patrols starting again in September 2021.
Thankyou to our Director of Life Saving Markus Meier-Lindner, Life Saving Officer Jamie Thorpe , Support Services Officer Dave Kohler (ATV/IRB Capt), Club Emergency Service Coordinator Jamie Caldwell & our Patrol Captains for leading the way in lifesaving matters this season...a job well done, great volunteers in our club.
