2021 Aussie Championships on the Sunshine Coast QLD
Wasn’t it great to back at Aussies. The club did extremely well over the Youth Masters & Open Championships.
Listed below is a break down on Howell our athletes went;
AUSSIE YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS
Days 1 & 2 saw some great racing by our 3 youth athletes...27 degrees first day, long day individual races & they race unreal. Well done Brayden Woodford Jaz Munro & Jack Wilson. Yes a few 1% not quite right, but hey this was their first Aussie titles! Highlights;
- Jaz semi-final U15 female board
- Brayden U15 male swim final
- Brayden 6th U15 iron final
- Jack 9th U15 male board final
And today Brayden & Jack 5th U15 male board rescue

Day 3 of 2021 Aussies saw an early start for 2km Ocean Swim @ Mooloolaba & then back up to Masters surf & craft @ Maroochydore. 2 medals won

Day 4 at 2021 Aussies saw our Master's wrap up their racing. How good today with 2 more medals won;

☆ Michael Locke Jonathon Crowe & Ian Timbrell 2nd150yrs Ski Relay ....and there is a story with this...Mick 1st paddler not a great start then has a swim at apex can, dead last paddles his guts out but still sitting around mid- pack, Crowey then shows his class & 4 teams break away to change over to Ian & he comes home strong, run leg to finish off & places 2nd...great effort guys loved watching it!
Our 240yrs Male Boat Crew ...3 round robin rows & place 4th...great work guys... Lincoln Costello Peter McLaren Barry Lowe Nigel Taylor & Chris Mercer, leading the charge for Bulli in the boaties area.

Day 5 of Aussie Championships saw another warm day , nice little wave, bit of water movement.....enjoyable day for spectators
Well done to our surf & craft team, massive day today on first day of Open Champs with a few of the athletes getting into double figures going around the buoys.

Shout out to Maroochydore SLSC for assisting with our 2 IRB power-craft shifts over the Youth Championships, it was greatly appreciated.
Day 6 & didn't we finish the day strong...last two events & we swim away with 2 Bronze medals.

But our athletes shone through very hard racing
Father & daughter Michael Locke & Jasmine Locke made the final of the mixed double ski...wow pace was on. Great effort Mick & Jaz. Oldest & Youngest paddlers in the race

Our boaties looked strong with Open Men & U19 Men having 2 round robin rows...back up tomorrow with their 3 round robin row, then into eliminations.
Day 8 of 2021 Aussies & we have new AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONS
Zara Sharman & Jasmine Locke 1st U19 Female Double Ski, outstanding paddle ladies in flat hard conditions.
Hannah Minogue & Jasmine Locke also gave it their all to pick up a 2nd in the Open Female Double Ski.

So proud of each & every athlete that pulled on the maroon & gold cap over the past 9 days of competition. Great results, yes some disappointments but hopefully that makes everyone keener & hungrier next season.
Top 20 finish (19th) in Open Club Point Score Championships...massive effort, those top 6 finishes helped our cause.
