SURF SPORTS

Our Surf Sport Athletes


Surf Sports activities within the surf lifesaving organisation plays a significant role in ensuring that our members are fit, healthy and have the ability and passion to meet the changing environment to deliver our essential lifesaving service. Being active in surf sports gives members the opportunity to gain recognition for their sporting achievements. Competitions are held at local, interstate and international locations. Bulli SLSC has a very proud history in surf sports competition. Each season our members compete at local, state, national and international events. Training for competition is fun and keeps your mind and body healthy and fit.

Competition ranges from Nippers (Under 8) right through to Open & Masters levels and can include surf swimming, ski paddling, board paddling, boat rowing, march past, pool rescue, champion lifesaver, R&R, beach sprinting & beach flags, IRB racing plus surfing. Our club coaching program & structure caters for all abilities from the novice to the elite. Pool Rescue

Pool Rescue take us into aquatic centres around the country to test surf life savers and showcase a variety of skills involving swimming under obstacles, rescuing manikins in towing & carrying events, team relays. State & National Pool Rescue Championships are held in the winter months as key qualifying events for our national lifesaving teams. It is also an opportunity for our lifesavers to display the skills that keep them rescue ready for the start of the patrol season.

Surf Boats

Our club has a proud history in surf boat rowing and our crews are known throughout Australia for their achievements. Since the 1950’s our surf boat crews have enjoyed exceptional success at all levels of competition. In marathon surf boat rowing our results is unequalled for consistency in the major events Australia wide. Boat crews compete in local carnivals, boat series carnivals which ultimately lead to the State, National & World Championship events.  

 







Surf/Craft Events

We have a talented squad of members who train in surf, board & ski sessions to improve their skills (U14-Masters) Our members race at local & inter-state carnivals leading into the State, National & World Championships events.

Nippers

Our young members (U8-U14) are involved in surf education activities which form part of Surf Life Saving Australia’s surf awareness program, which includes the dangers of the surf including identify rips and other hazards, identify people in trouble in the surf & staying safe in the surf. Our younger members are also encouraged to participate in inter-club, local and state wide carnivals which involve individual & team events such as wade, swim, board, board rescue, beach sprint & beach flags events.

 

Please Note: Members over the age of 15 must be financial, proficient and have completed the required patrol hours for your category of membership. In most cases, this is 25 hours per calendar year. U8-U14 must be a financial and proficient member of our club.
