Good results at Corrimal & Warilla
The final round of the 2011 Sydney Water Surf Premiership Series was held today at Warilla Beach. Some fine individual peformances were recorded by a few of our senior surf/craft members. Wins to Lachlan O'Grady (U17 Male Surf), Mitchell Fagerstrom (Open Male Surf), Hannah Minogue (Open Female Ski) & Jamie Brinkworth (U17 Female Ski). Lachlan O'Grady also placed 3rd in the U17 Ironperson & U17 Ski . Just finishing behind Mitch in the Open Male Surf and in the top 6 were Beau Wheeler (4th), Oscar Bradley (5th) & Lachlan O'Grady (6th). Emma Lockhart got a 6th in the Open Female Surf.
Our U15 girls also raced well with Bridgette Lockhart gaining 3rd in the U15 Ironperson & a 5th in the U15 Female Surf along with Emma Brown & Abbey Dawson finishing top 10 in their respective board, swim & ironperson events. Dale Dawson (U17) also finished 9th in the U17 board final. Lakeisha Jackson also placed 7th in the U17 Female spint final.
In the Overall Individual Point-Score events Lachlan O'Grady capped off a great day with a 2nd in the U17 Male Water points. Mitchell Fagerstrom gained 2nd in the Overall Open Male Swim points & Hannah Minogue a 3rd in the Open Female Ski points.
Our Boats raced at Corrimal in the 2nd round of the South Coast Boat Series and had some pretty fair results with a few of the crews recording wins during the course of the early rounds (Open Men's A crew, Open Women's A crew, Reserve Men's crew & the U19 Men's crew). 8 crews rowing on the day and putting the club in a good position in the overall club point-score.
Our Men's A crew had 3 good earlier rows to gain 2 wins & 1 second in the round robin format defeating Austinmer on 2 occasions & finishing 2nd to Austinmer before leading the final only to be caught by Austinmer on a wave and settle for 2nd prize.
Our Women's A crew placed 4th in the final with some problems at the start not helping their cause. Our 2 x Reserve Men's crews finished 2nd & 4th respectively in their final, with our 2 x U23 Women's crews placing 3rd & 4th respectively. Our young U19 Men's crew rowed a great race to finish 3rd in the final and our U23 Men's crew unlucky not to gain enough points for a finals berth.
A busy day for our 2 sweeps Paul Jones & Barry Lowe with Shane Geloven (Bucks Party) & Lincoln Costello on the mend from a serious illness (blood clot to the lung). The club wishes Lincoln a speedy recovery.....a bit of R & R for him over the Christmas period I am sure.
