Covid-19 update Surf Club premises & activities

Hi Members

Bulli Surf Life Saving Club hopes all our members continue to be healthy and safe.

As you know, our Surf Club premises has been closed to members and the public in line with NSW Government Public Health orders. From this weekend we will gradually ease those restrictions in keeping with guidelines provided by Surf Life Saving NSW and the NSW Government.  It is very important that none of those guidelines are breached as the health and safety of our members is paramount, not to mention the heavy fines that are in place for any breach.

Bulli SLSC recommends that all members download the COVIDSafe App, stay at home if unwell, maintain hand and respiratory hygiene and maintain 1.5 metre physical distancing.

Function Room

A decision has been made to re-open the Club function room for fitness providers only for the time being.  Hirers have their COVID-19 safety plan in place, class participation is capped at 20 persons and a physical distance of 1.5 metres between everyone is maintained.  A hand sanitising station has  been placed in the foyer for everyone's use on entry.   No club functions are proposed for the foreseeable future due to the minimal number of persons we are permitted in the function room allowing for social distancing.

Gymnasium

The surf club gymnasium will re-open to membership from this Saturday. Contact Paul Hennessy to have your Airkey access reactivated.

Gym users need to comply with gym rules including:  users must bring and use their own sweat towel; must use the provided hand sanitiser on arrival and when leaving the gym; and use the provided gym wipes to wipe down equipment before, during and after use.

It is a legal requirement that a record is kept of persons who use the surf club gymnasium.  A register for that purpose will be kept inside the gymnasium.  It is the responsibility of all gym users to complete that register.

Surf Sports

The majority of Surf sports training can resume.  Access to gear shed for all craft training is available however no more than 10 people can enter and physical distancing of 1.5 metres between everyone must be maintained. During training, wherever possible, social distancing and hygiene protocols should be observed.

Boat training, ie. actually in boat, is still not permitted.  Board rescue and beach flag training are also not allowed however indications are those restrictions will be lifted on 1 July 2020 when physical contact sport is re-introduced.

Education

Education courses can re-commence however Bulli SLSC has no courses planned in the near future.

Showers/Change Rooms

Remain closed for the immediate future.

General

  • Access to the club building is allowed for small meetings, maintenance etc. but with a maximum of 10 people.

  •  Every person who enters Bulli SLSC will be required to sign in with Name and Phone number, time of arrival and time of departure.

  • Our COVID-19 Safety Coordinator will be a shared role between the President Keith Caldwell and Director of Administration Paul Hennessy. They will act as the central point of contact for all matters COVID-19 within the Bulli Club and will liaise with each section of the club undertaking activity.

  • Regular cleaning of the surf club will continue including in high traffic areas, hand railings, door handles and airkey cylinders.

  • Disinfectant, cloths and paper towels are in easily accessible areas around the surf club building and we ask that all our members help in keeping our club clean and infection free.

We understand that the Government may continue to lift restrictions and amend guidelines and Health Orders.  We will continue to interpret those and share them with our members.

Finally, and on another matter, we are just letting you know that surveillance cameras are now operating in the surf club building as a means to ensure a greater level of security.  The cameras are operating continually and it is proposed to have them in place for the foreseeable future.  Camera surveillance is not occurring in toilets, showers and change rooms.
