Club starts with a bang at Shellharbour & Mollymook carnivals
The 1st round of the Sydney Water Surf Premiership Series was held recently at Shellharbour and members of the senior surf/craft section recorded some solid results. With South Coast, Sydney & Sydney Northern Beaches clubs in attendance, the quality of athletes was high.
Hannah Minogue recorded 2 victories in the Open Iron-woman & Board and placed 2nd in the Open Surf & Ski. Further top 3 placings were Daniel St George who won the U17 Male Surf, Mali Taylor 1st in the U15 Female Surf, Nathan Cattell 1st in the Veterans Flags & 3rd Veterans Sprint, Emma Brown 2nd in the U17 Female Surf, Mitchell Fagerstrom 3rd in the Open Male Board.
Further strong performances by Abbey Dawson (4th U17 Female Surf), Tobias Lunney (5th U17 Male Ski & 8th in U17 Iron-man), Lachlan O'Grady (5th Open Male Surf), Jamie Brinkworth (6th Open Female Ski), Bernadette Cardillo (6th Open Female Sprint & 8th Open Female Flags), Emma Brown (7th U17 Iron-woman & 7th U17 Female Ski), Kiah Taylor (7th U17 Female Surf), Michael Harris (7th Veterans Surf) & Alexandra Smiroldo (8th Open Female Surf) completed the clubs standout performances.
Some of our boat crews travelled to the Mollymook Boat carnival last weekend and came away with some impressive results. The Open Men's A crew recorded a very impressive victory along with our World & National U19 Men's champion crew. The U23 Men's crew placed an unlucky 4th in the final after rowing second all the way & the U23 Women's crew just missed out on making the final.
