Xmas Day Swim Results - Caldwell wins!
Well what a different day from last Sunday......Sunday 23 Dec perfect sunny day......Sunday 25 Dec Xmas Day cold wet and 43 mad members & friends turn up to swim in the annual club Xmas Day Handicap Swim.
All ranges of members were there with nipper kids, junior parents, vet rowers & sweeps, surf/craft athletes including masters, open & U19 rowers (both full crews with sweeps). Our biggest numbers were in the veterans class (maybe trying to clear the head from the night before) with 18 starters. Noel Freeman lined up for his 42 consecutive swim & it really showed (ha ha).
The winner...Jamie Caldwell apparently has been doing some secret training at Oak Flats pool to keep himself fit in is daily job as the Head Supervisor of Kiama Lifeguards. He held off Tobias Lunney, who was trying to keep it in the family with his older brother Iszak winning the event last year.
We truely had an international flavour this year with current members from Canada & France swimming plus former ironman Ben Allen & his girlfriend Jackie Slack (England) also swimming.
A few celebrationary drinks back in the club rooms with a few prizes handed out by Santa President Keith Caldwell to start everybody's Xmas Day.
