World Champions at Rescue 2012

Bulli sent a team of 5 boat crews & 3 surf/craft competitors down to South Australia last weekend for the 2012 World Life Saving Championships (known as Rescue 2012).

Some great results were achieved with Beau Wheeler racing exceptionally well coming away as World Champion in the U19 Male Surf, he also placed a close 4th in the U19 board & made the final of the U19 ocean-man.

Our boat section also obtained some great results with the U19 Male & Veterans 220 yrs both being crowned World Champions, the U19's being Shane Geloven (sweep), Iszak Lunney, Albert Smeaton, Toby Allnutt & Kyle Mercer & 220yrs Shane Geloven (sweep), Rod Mercer, Chris Mercer, Barry Lowe & Peter McLaren. The Open Male crew of Paul Jones (sweep), Dean Roberts, Ben Lowe, Dan Porra & Heath Mercer looked the goods all day only to just be pipped on the line by Bateman’s Bay in the final & had to settle for 2nd.

Hannah Minogue raced strongly against some quality girls to place a close 3rd in the Open Female Ski with Naomi Flood (London Olympian) winning from this year’s Coolangatta Gold winner Brodie Moir. Hannah also placed 5th in the Open Female Board & Ocean-woman.

Ian Timbrell placed second in the 44-49yrs 19km Long Distance Ski Race from Glenelg to Christies Beach.

Well done to everybody that attended.
