Bulli Boys dominant George Bass Surf Boat Marathon & Ski Marathon

RESULTS OF THE "NAVY" GEORGE BASS SURF BOAT & "DIAL BEFORE YOU DIG" SKI MARATHON HELD DOWN ON THE FAR SOUTH COAST OF NSW only last week.

The event started on the 1st January underneath the bridge at Bateman’s Bay with 7 days of rowing & ski paddling distances from 19km to 36km each day resulting in battered & bruised bodies, sun burn, dehydration, blisters on hands & bottoms, plus mental & physical fatigue.

Well talk about 2 dominant displays.....our Male Veteran’s crew & Michael Locke (ski paddler) showed all class in winning their respective category within the race.

The Vet’s won 5 legs and placed 2nd & 3rd respectively in the 7 legs rowed down the coast from Bateman’s Bay to Eden, a total of 181kms. On times our guys would have finished 2nd in the Open Men's Division.

Michael recorded 6 wins & placed 2nd on the other occasion, also breaking a few race records along the way.

Veteran’s crew was Shane Geloven (sweep), Craig Lunney, Peter McLaren, Kingsley Baker, Jason Sparkes, Rod Mercer, Chris Mercer, Darren Nicholls & Glen MacMillan.

Thankyou to all the supporters & back up staff who helped with set up of camp sites, meal preparation, driving of boat trailers, drinks & ice runs and the list goes on. To the sponsors that supported our club with clothing & fuel costs a massive thanks as we couldn't have achieved these results without your funding.

Massive thanks to the support boat drivers who shared their duties (Garry Horne & Mal Moon) and of course Michael Moon who made his boat available in the first place.

Special mention on Chris Mercer who rowed in his 13th George Bass Marathon (only 17 have been held & Bulli didn’t row in those)....not a bad effort for a 58 year old Hall of Fame Rower.
