Boatie wins Xmas Handicap Swim

56 swimmers greeted the starter on Xmas Day for the Annual Xmas Day Handicap Swim. Members aged from U9 through to Veterans lined up on a sunny morning to have a social swim around 2 bouys approximately 150 metres from shore. As usual there were a number of protests from swimmers prior to the event concerning their handicaps, unfortunately for them no one took any notice!

This year we had a sprinkling of surf club members from local clubs Sandon Point SLSC, Towradgi SLSC & Corrimal SLSC participate. We also had two young blokes namely Daniel Homer (U17) & Matt Homer (U14) from Nobby's Beach SLSC Queensland also had a swim & didn't they collect......finishing 2nd & 3rd respectively! Both boys are the son's of 'Ace' & Kerry Homer.....being formerly Kerry Jones, sister of Paul Jones our A sweep & daughter of Life Member Russ Jones.

Winner on the day though was Isaak Lunney.....yes a 1st year boat rower in the U19's. There was mention about his handicap not being higher enough and I am sure the handicapper will look into it next year.

Congratulations to Noel Freeman on having his 41st consecutive Xmas Day swim.....talk about commitment!

After the swim a presentations of prizes were made with the rules being you couldn't collect 2 prizes. A few random gifts were also given out & the various winners announced;
