2011 SLSI Junior Lifesaver of the Year

Congratulations to Riley Lord and Bridgette Lockhart who have been named 2011 Male and Female Junior Lifesavers of the Year for Surf Life Saving Illawarra. 

Riley, Bridgette and Emma Brown were all finalists.  The three were judged on their paper nomination and also interviewed by a panel.  

Selection criteria included:

 Contribution to Surf Life Saving

 Demonstration of leadership roles in club activities

 Contribution made to the club

 Awards received in Surf Life Saving and the community

 Involvement in community events outside of Surf Life Saving

 Awareness of club events and current affairs

 Initiative applied to cub and community activities

 Promotion of Surf Life Saving to the community

 Attendance record at club activities

 Encouragement of new members

 Demonstration of surf lifesaving knowledge and skills

The judges were very impressed with the finalists  level of application and their presentation.  They commented that all the finalists have wonderful skills and that this is the start of their journey into leadership within surf life saving.

Riley and Bridgette are now in line for SLS NSW Junior Lifesaver of the Year.  They will attend a 3 day camp with the other Branch nominees and the SLS NSW Junior Lifesaver of the Year will be announced at Junior State Championships.
