BULLI SLSC CHRISTMAS DAY HANDICAP SWIM
An invitation is extended to all club members to swim in the Christmas Day Handicap Swim at Bulli Beach.
Report time 9.30am. START TIME 10am Friday 25 December

For all the athletes a meeting for the SLSI Branch Team will take place @ Bulli Surf Club on next Wednesday (25 November) at 5pm followed by training at 5.30pm. Parents are more than welcome to attend this important meeting.
Again well done on gaining selection & I am sure they have a great time in Cape Hawke (Forster). 22 athletes out of 52 is not a bad effort!
Rookies (and Parents),
Just a reminder about the Hawks game on Wednesday 25/11/09 – if you would like to come please let me know as soon as possible so I can add your name to the list. We will need to contact the Hawks a few days beforehand with exact numbers so they can issue the tickets to me – you can then pay me on the night. So far we have about 12 Rookies attending but I would love to see more of you coming along…if there is an issue with transport please let me know as a few parents have suggested a car pool system and we will ensure that we can transport as many of you as possible
**Surf Life Saving Illawarra are holding a Rookie Night for all clubs at Northern Bowl on Tuesday 1/12/09 it will be $5 per game – snacks and drinks provided. They need to know by 30/11/09 so please let me know if you would like to go so I can reply on behalf of the club – I will be attending so come along and show how good Bulli is at Bowling!!
**Fun Beach Activities – we will be holding our first Rookie Meet on Sunday 6/12/09 at 11.30am on Bulli Beach. It will mainly be team events with the emphasis on having fun and getting to know other Rookies. Again let me know if you will be attending so we can arrange equipment etc. We hope to hold these on a monthly basis.
**Cadbury Fundraiser – Rookies who attended our first meeting were keen to try this as a fundraiser for the club and also to go towards our end of season trip (destination undecided at this stage but could be Jamberoo or Luna Park). We would order 50 boxes, each box containing 48 items and they would sell for $1.20 each. If this goes ahead each Rookie who wanted to participate would receive a box to sell.
**Nipper Clinic, Berg Board Battle and McDonalds Carnival – over the weekend of 30 and 31/01/10 Bulli Surf Club will be hosting all three events – this will be a great opportunity for Rookies to compete, assist with setup and water safety and fundraise. We would like to see the Rookies run their own stall/tent over the weekend and we need your ideas of what that may involve….suggestions so far have been Temporary Fun Tattoos for a gold coin donation, selling of lollies..the Cadbury Chocolates included, Face Painting again for a gold coin donation, a cake stall ……….these are all great ideas but we would love to have more so please let me know about any other suggestions.
Oh well I think that is enough for now!!!

2009 NSW SURF LIFE SAVING POOL RESCUE CHAMPIONSHIPS @ WOY WOY CENTRAL COAST
26 members ranging from U13’s to Open contested the championships. We travelled by coach and left Bulli at 5am and returned at 8.30pm that night. A great day was had by all that attended, socially and competition wise. The club won 23 medals (8 Gold, 9 Silver & 6 Bronze) and placed 3rd in the overall club point-score behind Ocean Beach & Terrigal. For some of our younger kids this was their first attempt at pool rescue events and they did quite well…….some winning their first ever state medal in a team event!
Congratulations to our younger guys/girls on winning their first NSW medal;

Other members to win medals included Jamie Brinkworth, Bernadette Cardillo, Ryan O’Grady, Mitchell Fagerstrom, Sean White, Ben Denner & Jamie Caldwell.
OCEAN SERIES – SURF BOAT MARATHON BONDI TO WATSONS BAY (12kms)
30 boat crews contested the Bondi to Watson’s Bay Marathon as part of the Ocean Series racing programme. Our U23’s crew won their division and came 2nd overall in line honours, a very impressive effort. The reserves placed 7th overall and the Vets Crew came 2nd in their division. All crews had a few quite ales at Watsons Bay Hotel after the event.
OCEAN SERIES (Ski Marathon)
The race was also from Bondi to Watsons Bay (12km) and was race 3 of the Ocean series. Elyse Yardley placed 2nd in the Ladies event, with Kirsty Holmes (QLD) winning the event & Lauren Smith (Warilla) got 3rd. Elyse will be attending a national kayaking camp at the Australian Institute of Sport on the Gold Coast from Nov 22nd to 4th of Dec and then will fly to Adelaide for Grand Prix 1 Kayaking regatta which doubles as a selection for an Olympic train-on squad for 2012. Apparently 4 of the olympic women have recently quit or retired and that is why this squad is being selected as a development squad. Good luck to Elyse with this camp & regatta.
